Local Network Fund for children and young people have funded £6,000 for the new football due to start at Chester-le-street on 9th April 05, 10am-12pm. We are delighted we have received this funding and this will allow us to further develop our football activities for young people in the County Durham area. It will also allow us to provide a services for a wider age range of people now for ages 5-12 and 13-16. We all ready run football for ages 16 years and above at the Sports Pavillion Centre in Chester-le-street on a sunday.


We received a £5,000 grant from Awards For All, for the pilot project which ran October 2003-2004. This funding paid for admin staff and helped with running costs through out the first year.We have been so successful that we have now being given funding from Strategic Initiatives Budget (SIB) which has secured the project till October 2005.   


The Community Police have funded a lot of the competitions we have organised. Also the police have provided staff at the events to develop community relationships.Once again these have being very successful and engaged young people from different social disadvantaged backgrounds.


The North Washington Youth Inclusion project, have also funded seasonal events and funded the Youth Inclusion 13-16 year league on a Sunday. Every Sunday 80-100 Young people attend the Northumbria Centre 5-7pm and take part in the league. We also organise competions every 3 month for the Youth Inclusion project which has being a huge success and approximately 200 young people have attended each event.Many agencies have attended the events with information stalls such as The Army, Connexions, Northeast Council of Addictions (Neca) Sexual Health Outreach Team (SHOWT) Healthy Living Centres.


Some of the girls that took part in the competition at the Northumbria Centre.We are also seeking to encourage more interest from girl's teams and even try to get a 5-a-side league for girls 13-16 running. 

Community Chest The organisation also received a grant of £2,000 from the community chest in our first year 2003-2004

Community Chest, has given Washington 5-a-side another grant of £800 for the year 2005.This is much appreciated and will help cover the costs of some the activities.

Strategic Initiative Budget (SIB) The organisation also successfully applied to the Sunderland Council for £23,000 from its strategic Initiative Budget (SIB) as part of its funding drive. We are absolutely delighted to have been granted this funding. It will enable us to increase our football-related activities for younger people. We will be able to make it more affordable for people on lower incomes to get involved in football and keep fit, who otherwise may not have been able to participate.The funding will also allow more people to get involved in the organisation as volunteers by enabling us to pay for training courses.

Healthy City Group The organisation was given a Health inequalities small grant of £500 from the Healthy City Group towards the running cost of the project 2003-2004.

Washington Area Command Crime Prevention project gave us funding towards expanding our youth inclusion activities which gave us more facilities for young peoples activities 13-16 years. 

BT Community Connections, have provided a brand new computer and free internet connection for a year. The computer will help young people,committee and workers access the internet for courses information and services. It will also be used for up dating our brand new website.

Connexions will sponsor the new league for 13-16 years, and 16 years and above £2,000 at Sandhill School in Sunderland started its second year May 06. The new 6-a-side leagues is on every Thursday night from 6-8pm.

Jungle Rama will sponsor the leagues both at Washington and Chester-Le-Street in the new season. The association has agreed to work in partnership with Jungle Rama to promote children's activities and are even looking at one night a week for children with special needs also working in partnership with the youth service.
