PLEASE NOTE THAT OUTDOOR GAMES SHOULD BE ON AS NORMAL THIS WEEK.

Snow was causing problems with outside courts having to be cancelled and with the Northumbria Centre been shut down by health and safety this is now running into thousands of pounds that this league is loosing....We are trying our best to keep the games going...thanks Dave

Important Notice Breaking News Northumbria Centre closed down by health and safety check fixtures for Friday nights and Sundays as games have been moved. Friday games will be played at the Galleries from now on 6-9.30pm and Sunday games cancelled until after christmas then at Nissan....Starting January 3rd 2010 1pm-8pm... check fixtures this Thursday and keep up dated.....thanks Dave

New look for 2010 season.... in 2010 we will be starting more new 5-a-side leagues and having a massive change around in this year. Once a gain we have had a really good year and are looking forward to 2010 season which will also bring a new look to our website....

RADELCAL SIGNS will sponsor the league this year again 2009, 3 new signs are to be put up at the Riverside Chester-le-street. 

The Leagues AGM Meeting and Presentation Night was held at the Northumbria Centre in Washington on Tuesday 18th March 08. 49 team managers attended the meeting. The teams also recieved their trophies, almost the full committee attended the AGM.

The Leagues Presentation Night was held at the Westwood club, Clumbia, Washington on this Saturday 24th February 07. Over 200 trophies were presented on the night. It was a huge success and over 200 people attended the evening. There was also a free buffet.These teams also won the cash draw Milan, Rangers and Roof Trush winniing £15 each.Teams also attended the presentation night from our leagues at Sandhill view school and Chester-le-street 7-a-side league. 

Anwick Castle Northumberland.

For a really nice day out, the Anwick Castle and gardens is great. With loads to do for the children and adults, birds of prey, childrens play areas water features, and history.The castle is worth a look around. The tree house is the best, its really good for the children and adults, a good trip out.

Committee Meeting.

A Committee Meeting was held at the base in Concord, Washington, on Wednesday 22nd March 06. All  the management committee and workers attendend the meeting, which started at 7.00pm. The reason for the meeting was to set the agenda for the AGM meeting that took place at the Northumbria Centre in Washington on  Wednesday 29th March 05 at 7.00pm. Many thanks to all members that attended the meeting.


The leagues Annual General Meeting for Washington, Chester-le-Street and Sunderland, was held at the Northumbria Centre in Washington at 7.00pm on Wednesday 29th March 06. The full management committee and 76 team managers or a representative attended the meeting. Members who did not attend, recived a  £10 fine. The Agenda for the meeting was:  Election of Committee, Minutes of Last Meeting, Treasurers Report, Secretaries Report, Directors Report, Rule Changes and Any other Business. Thanks to all members who attended the meeting.


Snow Stopped Play at Sandhill View School on Thursday 9th March 06 and also at Chester-le-street on Sunday 12th March 06. Not a lot of snow fell but what did caused the pitches to be frozen and stopped the games going a head. Sorry for any inconvenience.


The leagues presentation night was a huge sucess over 230 people attended the night, at the Westwood Club on Saturday 25th February, it was a good night with group Gansters of Ska. There was a free buffet, cash draw, raffle and over 200 trophies were handed out on the night. Everyone said they had enjoyed themselves and it was our best ever turn out. Compulsory Basic Training  (CBT) Free for Learner Motor Cyclists

12 Young People aged 16-25 years are required over Christmas to  learn how to ride a motor cycle safely. A free course which is compulsory, if you want to buy or ride a motor Cycle.You learn to ride safely and what to wear.Also the basic health and safety while on the road. Its free and to join contact Washington 5-a-side. The course is ran by Ace Motor Cycle Training at Chester-le Street. You must have provisional driving licence and be able to get to Ace Motor Cycles at Chester-le Street. Motor Cycles are provided for training. Ring for more details. 418 7204

Our new web-site, has just started over the past 9 months and has already had 8,700 hits. Its up dated every week, by a Tuesday at the latest. You can keep up to date with tables and times of games.You can also e-mail us by clicking on the Admin on the home page and we will answer your questions and sign players on, if you e-mail the details to us. If you buy goods through the web-site we get further funding for the leagues. The leagues Annual General Meeting 05, was held at the Northumbria Centre in Washington at 7.15pm on Wednesday 13th April 05. The full committee and staff members attended the meeting. The committee was voted back in, over 50% of teams attended the AGM.

The minutes of the last Annual General meeting was read out also the secretaries report was read out. Copies of the leagues annual accounts were given to members and the full meeting was presented on power point. This was a good attendance and two teams won £15 from the cash draw. May I thank all teams and committee members who attended the meeting.

12 New Adult Teams are required to join the leagues on a Sunday at the Northumbria Centre Washington. Team members must be over 16 years of age. Anyone interested tel Dave (0191 4187204) or e-mail admin on home page.

Wet and Wild

Young people went on a trip to wet and wild with the Washington 5-a-side, youth club, on Wednesday 18th May 05. The trip left the Pit Stop in the village at 5.30pm and returned at 9pm.













11 young people and 4 workers had a great time at Wet and Wild, the young people said they had a excellent time and wanted to stay longer. The community bus was full and even the workers had a great time. the cost was very reasonable as the Washington 5-a-side, paid towards the cost of the trip allowing young people to go for just £2 per-person.







Barmston  A.F.C. got a set of strips provided by the Washington 5-a-side leagues Association and are now playing every week in the youth Inclusion league at the Northumbria Centre in Washington on a Sunday 5.30pm till 7.00pm.

County Durham Foundation.


Local Network Fund for children and young people have funded £6,000 for the new football that started at Chester-le-street on Saturday 9th April 05, 10am -12pm.

We are delighted we have received this funding and this will allow us to further develop our football activities for young people in the County Durham area. It will also allow us to provide a services for a wider age range of people now for ages 5-12 and 13-16. We all ready run football for ages 16 years and above at the Sports Pavillion Centre in Chester-le-street on a sunday.

please note these sessions are off till after Christmas, due to shortage of staff.

20 Adult Teams Wanted for Sandhill School 6-a-side League started, Thursday May 5th, 05. Sposored by connextions the adult league for members 16 years and above. Anyone intrested contact us on 418 7204 or e-mail us through admin us on the home page.


Raich Carter Centre.( In partnership with Hendon's Young People's Project).

This competition was a a good success at the Raich Carter Centre in Hendon Sunderland.

It took place on Monday 4th April 05.Their was 10 boys teams aged 13-16 years of age, who took part in the all day competition.The weather stayed fine and it was a good day enjoyed by all. Lambton Street(a) boys team won and Footballitis finished runners up.


Durham Football Association (New Place at Chester-le-Street).

Durham Football Association have now moved to the Sports Pavillion Centre at Chester-le-Street.The New building is just to the right of the cricket ground.

Work is still on going, at the Cricket ground at Chester-le-street.A new stand is being built and a lot more work going on. 



  Presentation Night 11th March 05

The league presentation night, was a real good night and over 180 people attended the event. Over 200 trophies were given out to members on the night. (see organised events, for pictures of the event).



A Brand New Adult League 6-a-side, sponsored by Connexions, started Thursday May 5th 05, at Sandhill school Sunderland, 20 teams will play every week on a Thursday night 6-8pm. Team members must be over 16 years of age, and if you would like to enter a team contact us by e-mail or telephone (0191) 4187204. cost £15 per team per week.
