Washington 5-a-Side Leagues Association base is at Concord, opposite the bus station. Members can call in check times of games,league tables, cautions, suspensions, and general enquiries.We also sell football kits, trophies,accessories and the Project Manager Dave Munneke is keen to help you, with your enquiries.

 

We have our own management committee made up of people from the local community and encourage them to become volunteers within the project. We also offer progression routes for volunteers through refereeing, football coaching, community sports leaders and first aid courses.  


Opening hours  Every day except Sunday 9.30am-3.00pm Sat 10.00am till 1.00pm.           

         

We have a meeting room for committee meetings and group work.Young people are welcome to call in at anytime and project workers are available for help and to sign post them to other organisations.We also sell kits, trophies and other accessories.


Check the times of your games, register players, get information on courses and join our leagues by calling into see us. 


The management  committee is made up of local people and we have our own constitution. We also have our own equal opportunities and child protection polices and all our staff and volunteers are Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked. 


Aims of the Project; To engage people into crime diversionary activities. To reduce social isolation. To improve the health and well-being and fitness of local people.To build young peoples confidence and self-esteem.To work in developing sports, and to further develop sports in different areas with all ages and genders.To promote physical exercise and to empower young people into making informed choices regarding their health and lifestyle. To offer progression routes for volunteers through referee, football coaching, community sports leaders courses further training and many other courses, or by joining the management committee.

Equal Opportunities, This organisation promotes non-prejudice and equal opportunites regardless of gender or sexuality. We work with many minority groups and Show Racism the Red card. We also work with MESMAC around issues that effect gay or bisexual people. 

We work with many organisations such as the Community Police, Youth Inclusion project, Youth Development group, Crime Concern, Youth Offending Teams, Community Safety Partnership, Conextions, Sure Start, On-Track, Hendon's Young People Project, NHS (National Health Service). NECA (Northeast Counselling and Addiction), MESMAC, gay and bisexual issues, Wearside Women in need (domestic violence) and many schools and community settings to engage people into crime diversity activities including better social inclusion to combat youth disaffection. We use work-shops and information stalls to help educate young people, to improve the health and well-being of members taking part in all the activities and programmes we deliver. We provide advice and support to young people aged 13-19 in relation to careers, education and training through Connextions and The City of Sunderland College. 

Volunteers and progression routes. In the past 12 months 7 volunteers have passed their referees course and are now qualified referees. 4 volunteers have completed their level one coaching courses and are now involved within the association. 16 volunteers are now paid staff. Another 6 volunteers have joined the management committee.
